In order to increase the attractiveness of electric vehicles, automakers have begun to introduce a variety of "remote" models. But now it seems that it won't work. Recently, the American Automobile Association (AAA) confirmed that electric car owners are worried: cold weather will greatly shorten the mileage of the car.
The AAA study conducted a battery test on electric vehicles in a standard, repeatable cold environment. It tested a number of models including the BMW i3s, the Chevrolet Bolt EV, the Nissan Leaf, the Tesla Model S and the Volkswagen e-Golf. The results show that the average mileage of these five models is shortened by 41% in cold weather (20°F), close to half! And - no air conditioning will reduce the battery life.
